Mr. Knaggs is president of Knaggs Brake, P.C., where his practice focuses on representing petroleum jobbers in Michigan and the Great Lakes Region. He places a particular emphasis on franchise, Petroleum Marketers Practices Act (PMPA), general civil and commercial litigation before various state and federal courts and agencies, environmental law and business transactions.


Mr. Knaggs’ environmental law expertise is extensive. He represents a substantial number of clients in a variety of environmental matters under both federal and state law. He assists clients with regulatory issues, site  remediations, real estate/business transactions, prosecuting or defending cost recovery actions, and in insurance coverage actions. Mr. Knaggs has written articles on evidence, administrative law and environmental law and is regularly called upon to consult and lecture on matters related to environmental law. Mr. Knaggs serves as general counsel for the Michigan Petroleum Association/Michigan Association of Convenience Stores.


Mr. Knaggs graduated cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and served as an associate member of Cooley’s Law Review. He is also a past member of the Adjunct Faculty of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he taught Advocacy. Mr. Knaggs is a member of the American and Ingham County Bar Associations and the State Bar of Michigan. He is a former Vice Chairman of the American Bar Association Petroleum Marketing Committee. Mr. Knaggs is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He is also a retired judge advocate general for the Michigan Army National Guard and holds an FAA commercial pilot’s license.
